Welcome to a resource site for Orthodox Christian laity!

Saint John of Damascus, December 4th

As a layman Saint John authored works in defense of the veneration of Holy Images.

As Orthodox Christians we are called to know and live the Faith as handed down from generation to generation. As members of the Body of Christ we must care for what is a precious gift, the “pearl of great price.” This can be lived out in many ways, including by making your questions and concerns known to the Shepherds of the flock. Here you will find public information brought together to aid you in writing letters of support, encouragement, concerns and sincere questions to those who lead the Faithful.

DIRECTIONS

  • STEP 1: PRAY - Ask God for humility, wisdom, and love when writing to a father in Christ.

  • STEP 2: READ  - Examine historic samples of correspondences between Christians and their ecclesiastical superiors.

  • STEP 3: WRITE - Compose your letter using templates which are provided.

  • STEP 4: MAIL - Address your envelope with the help of the directory of bishops and diocesan websites.
